German Medical Institute in Limassol: advanced technology and multidisciplinary care

· MedCare24 GmbH

German Medical Institute (GMI) is a multidisciplinary hospital in Limassol, Cyprus. Its history began with the German Oncology Center, which opened in 2018. The oncology centre subsequently grew into a hospital bringing together multiple diagnostic and treatment specialties. Oncology remains a major focus, alongside surgery, cardiology, neurology, urology and orthopaedics.

Its technical infrastructure includes PET/CT, MRI and computed tomography. An on-site cyclotron produces radioisotopes for PET imaging. These technologies provide information about organ structure and tissue metabolism to support diagnosis and treatment planning.

A further development is the introduction of the Toumai robotic surgical system from MicroPort MedBot. It expands the options for minimally invasive surgery: the surgeon controls the instruments from a console using a three-dimensional view of the operating field. The choice of surgical approach depends on the condition and each patient's individual circumstances.

Oncology treatment options include chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies, as well as external radiotherapy and brachytherapy. Specialists from different disciplines discuss treatment plans in light of the diagnosis, investigation results and individual needs.

Bright patient rooms, lounge areas and a terrace overlooking Limassol and the Mediterranean complement the hospital's medical infrastructure. These are personal photographs taken during our visit to GMI.

Modern medicine brings together technology, clinical experience and attention to the individual. This approach underpins the work of German Medical Institute.
